Goring on Thames Burial Ground

Update on White Hill Burial Ground

Published: 15 November 2024

Goring -on-Thames PC has a beautiful Burial Ground on the outskirts of the parish. At a recent Council meeting, the Council approved to covert an unused paddock into a Natural Burial Ground and add a memorial garden for scattering of ashes to our current offering. Whilst it may take some months to implement this decision, the Council further approved to implement a 3 tier charging structure, applicable from 1st January 2025 which will be applicable to your parish, for our Traditional Burial Ground which is still accepting applications and interments – note we do not allow reservation of plots.

For many years, residents and relatives of residents of the surrounding parishes, have been disappointed that even though they live so close to Goring, when they pass they will need to pay the much more expensive “Non-Goring” fee should they be laid to rest at the White Hill Burial Ground, Goring. As of 1st January 2025, the fees applicable to the interment of former residents of the civil parishes of Streatley, Moulsford, South Stoke, Woodcote, Goring Heath, Whitchurch-on-Thames & Basildon will be charged the “Nr-Goring” fee.

The “Nr-Goring” fee for 2025-2026 is the same rate as the “Goring Resident” fee of 2024-2025. Goring residents receiving a 20% reduction in fees in 2025-2026, than they paid in 2024-2025.

The fees for anyone outside the “Nr-Goring” or “Goring” parish still experiencing the much higher “Non-Goring” fee.

Full details of the fees, and forms are available on our website. www.goringparishcouncil.gov.uk/documents/notices/
